I realise I have not updated my blog in some time. In fact, I have not been updating with any regularity since beginning this blog.

It is with some sadness that I report I am no longer the Great Northern Librarian. Due to the expiration of my work permit, I have left the UK and am not working in the far north of Scotland.

I am currently unemployed, which isn’t as bad as it sounds as I am forunate to have a good friend who is allowing me to stay with him in Damascus, Syria, until I figure out my next move.  I have been here a little over a week now and am currently job hunting. I would like to stay in Syria for at least a few months in order to learn basic Arabic, so I have been applying for English teaching jobs.  As luck would have it, there is an international school in Syria recruiting for a certified librarian for next academic year.

About thegreatnorthernlibrarian

I am a newly qualified librarian and law student currently living in Scotland. The name of this blog was inspired by my extreme northern location at the time of the blog's creation. Savvy readers will recognise that it is also a Twin Peaks reference. I do not necessarily categorise myself as "great."
